Nine people were injured and several cars were damaged in the explosion after authorities tried to safely detonate illegal fireworks in southern Los Angeles on Wednesday night.
The incident occurred during the seizure and arrest of the suspect after authorities found about £ 3,000 of fireworks in a house located in 2700 blocks on East 27 Street near San Pedro Street. The suspect’s name was not disclosed, and it was not immediately clear what led to the bust.
A Los Angeles Police Department spokesman confirmed the incident, but no further immediate information was available.
Details of the blast injury were not immediately available.
The Los Angeles Fire Department’s Urban Search and Rescue Task Force was on site to assess the structural integrity of the most damaged buildings.
The blast seemed to blow off a large rig, capsizing at least one car parked on the street.
