Parkland Shooting Victim’s Father Supports Federal School Safety Bill

Jacksonville, Florida – Approximately three years after losing his son in a mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, Max Schachter gives News4Jax the information and resources he needs to keep his students safe. He said he would like to offer to.

On Monday, US Senators Marco Rubio and Rick Scott of Florida, along with Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson, submitted the 2021 Luke and Alex School Safety Act. This is the same bill that was submitted at the last session.

The law is named after Max’s son Alex Schachter and his classmate Luke Heuer. Both were killed in the 2018 Parkland attack.

If passed, the bill will systematize a bundle of school safety information edited at schoolsafety.gov nationwide.

“After the shooting at Parkland, I had this vision of creating a school safety information center at the federal level. This information center has all the best practices for schools to be safe. Resources will be accommodated, “Schachter said. “The Trump administration agreed with my opinion. They created a safety information center for this school.”

Senator Rubio said this centralized source of best practice on school safety would provide some consistency to schools across the country.

“Shooting in Parkland is an unforgettable tragedy. We are proud of the work the school district has been able to accomplish with its families and previous administrations to secure a reliable central authority, an evidence-based information center. There are more successful models available for school safety measures, “Rubio said. “This central information for improving school safety needs to be available to state and local educational institutions, so I am federal on school safety best practices to meet that need. We support the codification of the clearinghouse. Congress should act swiftly to pass this bill. “

Schachter said the information came from the Ministry of Education, the Department of Justice, the Department of Homeland Security, and the Department of Health and Social Welfare.

“This is one place where anyone can find information about grants,” Schachter said. “So I recommend all parents and all schools to visit the Federal School Safety Information Center website, schoolsafety.gov, to check it.”

The bill was referred to the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Government Issues.

A similar law was submitted to the US House of Representatives.

Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene apologizes, but it’s hollow for those who lost their children in a shooting at a school in Parkland.

“The whole country was affected by a horrific tragedy, and she says it never happened, or even implies that, as you know, it really hates her.” Said Schachter, referring to Green.

She agreed with those who claimed that the shooting in Parkland was a “false flag” operation and was fake or staged. A video was released a week ago, showing that in March 2019 Green was harassing Parkland survivor David Hogg outside the Capitol.

“I hate what she said about Parkland and Sandy Hook, and even Las Vegas. As you know, what happened to me and my family didn’t happen to just one family. It’s 17 families. It happened to, but it also affected our entire community, “Schachter said.

The House of Representatives voted to remove Green from the Commission’s mission tonight. Green spoke on the floor prior to the vote, but it didn’t seem to be enough for the other elected leaders.

Dem-led house draws a line and drives Green out of the committee

“School shooting is absolutely real,” Green said. “And all the lost children, their families mourn it.”

“We’re heading in the wrong direction. If we continue to choose people to take her approach, we’ll continue to lose as Republicans. It’s very easy. It’s hard to see,” said the Republican. Deputy Governor Jeff Duncan said.

“This is not a close call,” said Jim McGovern, Congressman of D-Massachusetts. “Joining the committee is a privilege, not a right. When members say that school shooting is a false flag operation, they should lose the privilege of serving on the Education and Labor Relations Commission.”

Green spoke to a colleague and tried to separate himself from the “words of the past.” In contrast to past social media posts, she said the 9/11 attacks and mass school shootings were real and QAnon’s conspiracy theory no longer believed.
