Police rescue more than 20 dogs and puppies on Staten Island after animal cruelty complaints

Staten Island, New York (WABC) — Police rescued more than 20 dogs and puppies on Staten Island Friday after community complaints of animal abuse.

The New York City Sheriff’s Office and the Staten Island District Attorney have partnered with the ASPCA to investigate the complaint.

Police said those involved were arrested and charged with felony charges.

“Individuals who commit these types of crimes need to be held accountable,” said Sheriff Anthony Miranda. It is the effectiveness of interagency cooperation that the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Public Security demand of us.”
