Florida has a rich sporting history which has gripped the state’s population for centuries. These days, it’s arguably more competitive than ever before with a whole host of sides aiming to win over local support. Competition is strong.

Floridians certainly aren’t short on entertainment options either, which arguably makes attracting new fans a tougher challenge for certain franchises. With these colossal franchises having hordes of fans looking to back their favorite teams or induvial players at sites like Allstargambling, there is a massively competitive marketwithin the state as a result. Sport is a favored option for so many people, though, hence why many of the franchises in Florida have a dedicated and relatively large following behind them. In fact, sport is most definitely part of the lifeblood of the Sunshine State with its huge stadiums and hundreds of teams. But which one of them is the biggest? Below is a look the main contenders.

4) Florida Gators

After regularly challenging at the top end of the NCAA league table, the Florida Gators are a college football team with a humongous set of fans behind them. One of the most established sides in the history of college basketball, the Gators have competed for well over 100 seasons after being founded in Gainesville in 1906. The formidable college team pulls in big money too, with revenues of $156.6 million recorded in 2019 alone.

3) Miami Dolphins

 After not necessarily living up to its full potential in the NFL in recent times, the Miami Dolphins are still one of the most widely supported franchises in Florida and an instantly recognisable name from the sport. With an estimated fanbase of over 2.2 million, the Dolphins are the oldest professional sports team in Florida and are certainly the most popular NFL side in the state. Despite a notable decline throughout most of the 2000s, the Hard Rock Stadium is regularly filled to capacity.

2) Orlando Magic

 With an estimated 2.7 million fans throughout the state, Orlando Magic is an NBA powerhouse which has played its part in some of the NBA’s most memorable moments over the years. After being founded in 1989, the team is second behind Miami Heat in terms of being the most successful of the four expansion teams which were introduced into the NBA in 1988 and 1989. With two conference titles to its name and world-famous stars like Shaquille O’Neal once turning out for the side, Orlando Magic is a huge club in the state.

With a massive 15 million fans behind them, Miami Heat is one of the most popular sides in the entire NBA, let alone the state of Florida. Its first NBA championship in 2006 certainly captivated audiences, but so too did the team’s 2012 and 2013 victories in the NBA Finals. With superstars plying their trade for the side over the years in the shape of Shaquille O’Neal and LeBron James, Heat fans have always had something to turn up for.
