Queens modified East Elmhurst destroyed community fridge, $ 35,000 donation

East Elmhurst, Queens (WABC)-A community fridge destroyed in Queens on Friday was repaired, said State Senator Jessica Ramos.

Ramos said in a Twitter post Monday evening that the refrigerator would be repaired and more than $ 35,000 would be used to donate to the Queens community.

She received the donation in just three days and says a sudden visit from GB Repair, the owner of a family-owned repair business, helped repair the refrigerator.

A community fridge built to help people in East Elmhurst suffering from food insecurity was destroyed on Friday.

“Many of our neighbors rely on the generosity of other neighbors to overcome these difficult times. Now this lifeline is gone. I’m grieving,” Ramos said. Said.

After the incident, Senator New York advised supporters to replace the refrigerator and donate to stockpile groceries.
