Tornado Watch prompts Weather Authority Alert, expired at 3 p.m.

A Tornado Watch for Thursday morning was extended until 3 p.m. for most of our Northeast Florida counties, prompting a Weather Authority Alert through the afternoon.

Several tornado warnings and flood advisories were issued throughout the morning for St. Johns, Flagler, Putnam and Marion counties. The tornado warnings have since expired.

A flood advisory is in effect for St. Johns County until 2:45 p.m.

An EF-2 tornado ripped through a portion of Palm Coast on Thursday morning, leaving tree snapped, powerlines down and several homes with “catastrophic” damage.

Update: Tornado Watch through 3 p.m. for Duval, Columbia, Alachua, Bradford, Baker, Union, Clay, St. Johns, Putnam and Flagler. So far, our area has only seen widespread rainfall, but broad circulation continues as the low pressure area approaches the Gulf Coast.

Thursday: Rain with thunderstorms possible through around noon. Rain will continue through the morning commute Thursday morning. Localized flooding may be possible, particularly for urban and poor drainage areas with rainfall averages around 2-3 inches and some possibly as high as 3-5 inches. Morning lows in the 60s to 70s. Afternoon highs in the 70s. Rain will turn to rounds of showers Thursday late afternoon, evening.

Hazards: Locally heavy rainfall and flooding. 2 to 4 inches of rain with higher amounts possible with slightly higher chances of local flooding near I-10.
