Rangers, Berkeley Goodrow agree on 6-year contract

Rangers and Berkeley Goodrow have a contract.

Less than a week after acquiring the pending free agent Goodrow in a deal with Tampa Bay Lightning, the club announced Thursday that the Rangers had agreed to a six-year deal with 28-year-old Forward.

The Rangers acquired Goodrow before the NHL deadline for the team to submit Wednesday’s expansion draft protection list to stock the league’s 32nd team, the Seattle Kraken. They sent a seventh round draft topic to Tampa Bay in exchange for the right to negotiate a contract with Goodrow before hitting an unlimited free agent on July 28.

By signing with Goodrow, the Rangers have taken an important step in the process of making the roster tougher. General manager Chris Drury says he wants to do it this summer.

Goodlow, who played in the third line of Lightning in the last two seasons, scored 6 goals, 14 assists and 52 penalties in 55 games in 2021, followed by 2 goals, 4 assists and 26 penalties in the Tampa Bay 18 playoff game. Had a regular season.
