An employee is stabbed in an attempted robbery at the San Marco Golf Store.

jacksonville, florida A man is currently in custody after stabbing an employee in an attempt to rob a San Marco business on Sunday night, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Police said the man walked into the Fore Score Golf Tavern at the San Marco Square shopping plaza on Atlantic Boulevard just before 7:30 p.m. and made his way to the hostess stand. According to police, he tried to steal one of his employee’s purses.

Another employee confronted the man after the attempted robbery, according to the JSO. During the confrontation, the man threatened employees and demanded more money from the company, he said, JSO said.

The man pulled out a knife, stabbed the employee, and fled, according to the JSO.

Witnesses helped identify the man, and a JSO patrol sergeant found him a few blocks from the store.

The stabbed employee suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The sergeant was unharmed.

JSO has not disclosed the man’s identity.
