Melbourne, FLA. — — Savannah Brennan 2021-22 Sunshine State Conference Awarded as Woman of the Year. First Team All-American and Academic All-American will be the first Panthers to receive this award.
Candidates for the Sunshine State Conference Woman of the Year were selected from each of the 11 Sunshine State Conference League members by an athletic director, senior female manager, athletic communication director, and faculty athletic representative. They were scored according to the NCAA’s Woman of the Year guidelines.
“Savannah symbolizes the goals athletes have set to become scholars, leaders and champions,” said the athletic director. Jamie Joss.. “When she thinks she has reached the pinnacle of her success, she finds another level to reach.
“We are very proud of everything she has achieved during her career, and this honor proves all the efforts she has made in the pool and classroom.”
At the pool, Brennan won three CSCAA All-America honors from 2021 to 22 for his 400 individual medley, 1000 free and 500 free performances in the NCAA Division II Championship. She finished 9th at 400 IM at 4: 18.40 and 10th at 500 Free at 4: 54.56. Her best finish was 1000 Free and she finished 5th at 10: 04.04. All three marks are records from the Florida Institute of Technology.
Brennan currently holds six Panther records for each event, and holds four relay records with his teammates.
Originally from Oviedo, he recently became the first three winners of the SSC Women’s Studies-Athlete of the Year Awards. She has achieved excellent results in the honor of First Team CoSIDA Academic All-America. She was also tabbed for the Second Team Academic All-America in 2020-21 after completing two majors in Genomics and Molecular Genetics and Biomedicine with an average of 3.97 points. With a Master’s degree in Biotechnology, Brennan has won all the CSCAA Scholarship All-American, SSC Commissioner Honors, Athletic Director Honors, and List Awards for qualified Dean Dean in her career.
Brennan represents SSC and the Florida Institute of Technology as candidates for the 2022 NCAA Woman of the Year. She is the first scholarly athlete to be nominated for the NCAA Award from the League at the Florida Institute of Technology.
