SD Times News Digest: Apple Releases New Marketing Tool for App Store, Android Expands Automatic Privilege Reset, Swift 5.5 Released

Apple has announced that users can now easily create custom marketing assets such as banners and images to promote their apps on social media and more.

Simply select an app, select a template, customize your design, and add preset messages in multiple languages.

You can also use the new App Store marketing tools to create short links or embeddable codes that lead to App Store product pages and display app icons, QR codes, or App Store badges.

Android to extend automatic reset of permissions

According to Google, the auto-reset permissions feature introduced in Android 11 has been extended to billions of devices since December 2021.

This feature helps protect your privacy by automatically resetting your app’s run-time permissions. Run-time permissions are permissions that display a prompt to the user when requested if the app hasn’t been used for several months.

If your app targets at least API level 30 and requires users to disable automatic reset of permissions, the developer needs to make some simple code changes.

We’ve built features, new ways to manage tabs and documents, and the ability to color-code workspaces, “says Microsoft Program Manager Grace Taylor. Blog post.. “We are currently working with the creators of community themes to test new theme conversion tools to help Visual Studio better adapt to user habits and preferences.”

The themes listed in the blog post are most compatible with Visual Studio 2022 Preview 4 and later, and early versions of these converted themes work best with C # and C ++.
