SD Times News Digest: NVIDIA Receives DeepMap, Visual Studio Code 1.57, and FIDO Developer Challenges for Self-Driving Vehicles

NVIDIA has announced that it will acquire DeepMap, a startup that builds HD maps for self-driving cars to navigate.

DeepMap technology enhances NVIDIA DRIVE mapping and localization capabilities after the acquisition is expected to close in the third quarter of 2021.

Ali Kani, NVIDIA’s Vice President and General Manager of Automotive, said: “DeepMap is expected to help extend our mapping products, expand our mapping operations around the world, and fully extend our autonomous driving expertise.”

Visual Studio Code 1.57

The latest releases include updates for workspace trusts, new start-up experiences, remote repositories, and more.

Workspace trust allows users to decide whether to allow or limit the autorun of code in the project folder, enabling secure code browsing.

In addition, the new Edge Browser debug feature integrates the Microsoft Edge Developer tools directly into VS Code.

FIDO Developer Challenge

The new FIDO Developer Challenge invites teams to use the public FIDO2 WebAuthn API to share their ideas for FIDO authentication.

The FIDO Alliance states that projects need to apply FIDO authentication protocols to address technical or social challenges in fintech, e-commerce, IoT, retail, blockchain, gaming and education.
