Then, of course, there is a screening done before boarding. Liquids, gels and aerosols have been banned on flights for many years.

Still, they are among the myriad of items that are confiscated each sunset. Spero admits that many people at Philadelphia International Airport are having a hard time understanding what they can’t bring on a plane.

This includes private firearms.

“I think we have up to seven or eight firearms this year, which, when adjusted in quantity, increases by about 30% over what was seen in the previous year,” he said.

Brian Carolina, who oversees the Transportation Security Administration, said there were other concerns besides eliminating potential terrorists. In other words, angry passengers.

“Some of the supervisors and officers were attacked by passengers at other airports. You need to remember that. Every time they call a supervisor, it can be a myriad of things that can happen. “He said.

By the way, attacking TSA officers is a federal crime.

Today, TSA employs more than 60,000 security personnel and operates on a multi-billion dollar budget.

TSA is responsible for protecting railroads, mass transit, ports and pipelines, and, of course, screening passengers and baggage at over 450 US airports.
