Viral sensation makes history with Riverdance Broadway show coming to Broward County

Broward County, Florida – A viral sensation is making history in Broadway plays, and she’s bringing her movement and culture to South Florida this weekend.

Irish dance group Riverdance kicks off its 25th anniversary tour with Morgan Bullock, who made history as the group’s first black dancer.

“Growing up as an Irish dancer and loving going to Riverdance and Irish dance shows, I had never seen anyone like me. It’s an honor to be able to do that,” Bullock told Local. 10 news.

Morgan, who has loved dancing since she was a child, got her attention from a TikTok video that went viral during the pandemic.

“I didn’t take myself too seriously. I think it helped me in the long run,” she said. The rest is history and here I am.”

Bullock will bring her talent from the internet to the main stage at Broadway’s Broward Center for the Performing Arts this weekend.

“It’s a little more modernized. Things have changed on our 25th anniversary,” she said. “It’s such a beautiful show with Grammy-winning music. And the performers, we all love what we do and it comes out on stage.”

The two-hour Riverdance show is loosely based on Irish culture and the story of mass immigration to America.

The thrilling energy and passion of Irish and International dance come to life here.

“It’s a great mix of cultures,” Bullock said. “We have flamingo dancers, folk dancers, tap dancers, Irish dancers on stage.

The show is for all ages.

This weekend is your chance to see it live. The show is here Friday through Sunday.
