Two boys were stabbed to death in the Bronx.mother’s custody

Mount Hope, Bronx (WABC) — Two boys, aged 3 and 11 months, were stabbed to death in the Bronx on Saturday night, police say their mother is in custody.

Police said the murder occurred at a family shelter at Echo Place in the Mount Hope section of the Bronx, and the boys were found with multiple stab wounds to the neck and torso.

The NYPD is pending an update on the stabbing death toll.

The police were first called at 7:30 pm when they found the mother acting unusually inside the apartment on the third floor. Sources say her mother then tried to burn the apartment down with a stove and poured water on her.

The mother, who is concerned about the death, was taken to hospital for evaluation and remains in custody, police said.

Less than an hour later, a second 911 call was made, this time reporting that two children were in the same area and unresponsive. When officers returned to the apartment, they found the boys with stab wounds.

Neighbors who live in the hallway say they heard the two boys’ parents arguing and screaming early in the night.

“He was yelling hysterically, ‘Help!’ I came and opened the door and I saw him coming down the hall with two boys in his arms. They were dead. They were dead. There was blood everywhere,” said my neighbor Shannon Holyfield.

Police and other family members attempted to resuscitate the boys, but they were taken to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

“It’s something they have to live with and maybe think about for the rest of their lives. We have very experienced police officers. I think they’re the best. It can be dealt with and dealt with, said deputy chief Louis de Segri at a press conference on Saturday night.

A memorial service was held outside the shelter on Sunday morning to remember the two young victims.
