Tallahassee police investigating Friday night shooting

Tallahassee, Fla. (WTXL) – A man has died and Tallahassee Police are still trying to identify the culprit.

The man was found dead on the 3000 block on South Adams Street, according to a Facebook post on the Tallahassee Police Department Facebook page. FYI, this is in the area just south of the BL Perry His Junior Branch Library.

TPD did not disclose the specific shooting location. We are working to confirm that information. TPD said the shooting occurred just before midnight on Friday night. When they arrived at the scene, they found a dead body.

The inquiry follows several shootings in the city so far this year.

I checked the stats on TPD. As of Thursday, July 6th, The TPD had documented five murders involving guns.they also recorded 26 shootings with injuries.

In 2022, TPD recorded 12 gun homicides.

The area where the shooting occurred Friday night includes zip code 32301, where TPD said there were 23 murders/shootings between January 1 and July 6, 2023. . Their data also show that zip code 32304 had the most such incidents, with 34 of them. Records as of July 6th.

TPD also said it has seized or seized more than 250 guns so far in 2023.

These figures do not include cases reported or investigated by other Leon County agencies.
