The Southwest Florida Multicultural Center will host the 23rd Big Backpack Event at Fort Myers Skatium on Sunday, July 24, in partnership with several other institutions and businesses.

The center wants to make the event on the 2250 Broadway bigger than ever, with children as well as school supplies in response to rising inflation and the number of families in southwestern Florida living below the poverty line. Also states that it offers a lot.

The first 2,000 children between the ages of 5 and 12 will receive a free backpack containing school supplies including notebook paper, crayons, pens, pencils, glue sticks, folders and more. Parents and guardians can drive a car with their children and pick up these backpacks and other giveaways on the porch. Your child must be present to receive your backpack. In addition, the following items are also available this year.

  • The first 1,000 families will receive a grocery bag full of children’s food such as peanut butter, jelly, macaroni and cheese, pasta and spaghetti sauce, thanks to the support of the community cooperative.
  • An additional 1,000 children will receive a backpack containing school supplies donated by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.
  • Mandatory, free on-site vaccines for 7th grade students enrolled are provided by the Lee County Health Department in mobile units outside of Scutium.

According to the organizers, backpacks and grocery bags will be packed at Skatium from 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday, July 23, and backpacks and groceries will be distributed from 9:30 am to 2 am on the day of the event. You need additional volunteers to do this.30 pm Volunteers Sign up online..
