Happy Sunday, Southwest Florida!
Your Sunday looks good with partially cloudy skies and isolated thunderstorms this afternoon, and dry air begins to penetrate the area. Otherwise, expect a warm day with highs in the late 90’s.
The tropics are still very busy, with Category 4 hurricane sums being the main focus. Sam is expected to remain a major hurricane for at least the next five days. The good news is that Sam is predicted to miss the Lesser Antilles and head for the sea.
Behind Sam are two other areas that may develop in the next five days. Neither of these waves poses an imminent threat to our region, but it is worth paying attention to as these waves move west towards the Caribbean Sea towards October. There is another area north of Sam that is unlikely to develop, but in southwestern Florida it doesn’t matter to us.
