The feud between the Governor of Florida and the Mayor of Hialeah continues

Hialeah, Florida – Governor Ron DeSantis was in Hialeah on Tuesday morning and announced more vaccination sites.

In doing so, he emphasized “the murderers’ row of the officials elected here” and then checked them out, “Do I miss someone?”

Yeah, yes, he did.

Carlos Hernandez, mayor of Hialeah, one of the state’s most populous cities, did not scream, but only on the way out of the governor.

“Governor, [it’s] Mayor of Hiarea. How are you? I want to talk, “said Hernandez, who shouted before stepping into the same podium and talking to the reporter.

“I wasn’t invited to this, just as I wasn’t invited to a previous meeting,” Hernandez said.

Now there is a sincere pattern.

Why did this apparent Cold War begin between the Republican mayor and the Republican governor in this Republican-centric city?

The first inking may have started in the spring.

With a long unemployment rate and a surge in coronavirus cases, Hernandez wanted to pay more attention to his city from the beginning. However, the governor dealt with counties rather than individual cities.

Then, during the summer, there was a rally at the courthouse, including the mayor of Miami-Dade.

Hernandez said she only appeared at the Stephen P. Clark Government Center on July when a representative of the governor’s office learned that the meeting was invitation-only and was not on the list.

The staff refused to let him in.

The governor at the time said, “I wasn’t the one who personally invited people.”

The mayor called it “lack of respect” and expressed dissatisfaction nationwide on cable news the next day.

Fast forward on Tuesday and the pattern will continue. The mayor’s criticism, the governor is doing business without him, and neither-on all accounts-made the first move to break the cycle.
