Escaped inmate found and detained in St. Johns County

st.Augustine, Florida – The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office found an inmate who attempted to escape on Sunday afternoon.

According to the sheriff’s office, Brendan Coots, 28, was part of a work crew performing maintenance at the SJSO training center when he fled.

According to the SJCS, Kuts was arrested and remanded within an hour.

Prison records show Kuts is in jail for theft.

“This is a great example of total community partnership. From the quick response to help from our partner agencies and from residents who contacted the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office to provide important information, this The incident was a team effort and led to the speedy arrest of inmate Kutz,” the SJCO said.

“Good try, Coots, but it doesn’t happen in St. John’s County. This kind of behavior is unacceptable.”

The sheriff’s office said further charges are expected.
