Washington (WABC)-The next White House spokesman, the first black woman to openly hold an LGBTQ position, grew up on Long Island after moving from Queens.

Jean-Pierre was born in Martinique at the age of five, before his family emigrated to Queen’s Village.

Her mother worked as a family health assistant and her father was a taxi driver.

The family then moved to Hempstead and attended Franklin Elementary School before achieving excellent student and track star performance at Kellenberg Memorial High School in Uniondale.

She then earned a college degree from the New York Institute of Technology in Old Westbury, followed by a master’s degree in Colombia, where she worked for the Students’ Union.

Jean-Pierre faces American concerns about inflation and rising economic conditions as the White House faces a difficult battle to help Democrats maintain the House and Senate in the midterm elections this fall. It plays that role when you’re having a hard time.

She also gets a job when Biden faces a difficult set of foreign policy challenges, such as Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine and North Korea’s expanding nuclear test program. Biden will visit South Korea and Japan later this month and Europe in June.

“Carine will not only bring the experience, talent and integrity needed for this difficult task, but will continue to lead the way in communicating about the work of the Biden Harris administration on behalf of the American people,” Biden said in a statement. Pusaki, who left the White House on May 13, pointed out the importance of a history-making appointment and praised her successor as a “true partner.”

She traveled to Europe with Biden last fall and March instead of Pusaki, who tested positive for COVID-19 before both trips.

Prior to participating in the Biden presidential campaign, Jean-Pierre was the Chief Public Relations Officer of the progressive group MoveOn.org and a former political analyst at NBC and MSNBC. She also engaged in Obama White House political issues and his re-election campaign.

The spokesman is responsible for holding daily briefings with the press and leading a department of more than 12 staff members to help address questions from the press.
