Police said the suspect, identified as 34-year-old Sean Kuilan, threw a brick at the window of a gay bar in Hell’s Kitchen three times last week.

“I hate to say it, but I wasn’t surprised. I wasn’t surprised. The weather in this country, what happened in Colorado Springs. It’s a microcosm of the world. We’re going to get our share. I’m glad it’s not a gun.

“Sadly, there are still people who are stuck in times that don’t want to embrace change or anything like that and can’t find a better word to say,” said resident Sandra Reyes.

Over the weekend, the owner of Verse Bar in Hell’s Kitchen spoke about why he spoke up.

“I’m worried about what the next move will be and whether I’ll do it to other gay bars in my neighborhood,” said bar owner David Deparoleza.

When asked about this ongoing feud with staff, the bar owner said he was completely unaware of the suspect.
