Volcia County, Florida (WJW) — Watched in a video of a Florida Sheriff’s adjutant rescuing a missing 13-year-old girl found in a motel room with a 22-year-old man he met online.
According to Volusia Sheriff’s Office, she was reported missing on Thursday at 6:15 pm. My grandmother said she didn’t go home and didn’t play a basketball game after school.
Deputy Royce James began an investigation by talking to a girl friend who said she was planning to go to the motel with someone she met online. A friend said the man might have picked him up at a nearby Dollar General.
After checking the store’s surveillance video and watching the girl, James visited a local motel and began showing the clerk a picture of the girl. At the third motel, the adjutant was able to track down the suspect.
He went to the suspect’s room, knocked on the door several times, and then 22-year-old Tyler Thompson answered the door. The victim hit the adjutant’s arm and hugged him.
The girl was medically cleared, interviewed, and went to a local Children’s and Family Affairs facility for evaluation. After that, she was returned home.
Thompson was arrested for traveling to meet a child’s custody obstruction after using a computer to seduce a child. Additional charges are pending. He was released from Volusia County Branch Jail on Friday after investing a $ 15,000 deposit.
