Tiempo with Joe Torres: Donations to Latino Institutions, New Salsa Dance Museum

New York City (WABC)-In this episode of Tiempo, several major Latino institutions in the Tri-State area received millions of dollars in donations.

Philanthropist Mackenzie Scott made a generous contribution.

She is the head of Amazon and the ex-wife of the billionaire Jeff Bezos, the wealthiest man in the world.

In total, she donated $ 2.7 billion to 286 organizations nationwide.

In our area, Hostos Community College has won $ 15 million.

El Museo del Barrio, which has been around for over 50 years, has received a donation of $ 8 million.

Joe Torres told El Museo’s Patrick Charpenal what financial institutions are going to do with the plunge in money.

The Salsa Museum is currently under construction in New York City.

The non-profit organization that leads this effort wants to emphasize the influence of salsa here and help the formation of the next generation of Latino musicians and artists.

Joe spoke to co-founders Willy Rodriguez and Ilialis “Lily” Reyes, and Damaris Mercado of the International Salsa Museum about upcoming programs and programs to offer to the Bronx community.
