Local Agencies Announce New Approach to Stop Human Trafficking and Child Sexual Exploitation

Clay County, Florida – Law enforcement officers from five local counties, the FDLE, and the Department of Homeland Security met Thursday morning to announce a new partnership to stop human trafficking and child sexual exploitation.

In the video, Tebows shared a personal story of a woman who was forced into human trafficking. Some say she was as young as nine years old.

“For so many people, this is what seems like the darkest hour of need,” Tebow said in the video. We urgently need to bring faith and open love.”

representatives of a group called “Operation Lightshine” also attended the event. According to the group’s website, the group’s mission is to stop human trafficking and child exploitation.

The website has a concept on its homepage called the “Interagency Child Exploitation and Trafficking Task Force” known as “The Intercept”.

INTERCEPT helps local communities acquire resources to conduct research, plan and execute operations, identify and rescue victims, educate and raise awareness among parents and children, and process and analyze data. It’s intended to help.

The group is partnering with local agencies to launch INTERCEPT Northeast Florida.

The organization’s founder, Matthew Murphy, launched the group after his sister was murdered by drug traffickers.

“When I first started this charity, I was just like, ‘If only one person could stop it’…don’t do anything right,” Murphy said.

According to Operation Light Shine:

  • In the United States alone, an estimated less than 1% of child sexual exploitation cases are currently being investigated.

  • In 2021, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received more than 17,200 reports of possible child sex trafficking.

  • 3.8 million adults are trafficked for forced sexual exploitation
