Wakulla 4H will set up a garden in the County Library with the help of an intern

Crawfordville, Florida (WTXL) — Wakulla 4H has a new garden and a new intern at the Wakulla County Library.

Johanna Walker of the University of Florida’s Institute of Food, Agriculture and Life Sciences tells ABC 27 that soil testing and the installation of irrigation systems are ways for the community to learn about health and an independent lifestyle.

“It is very important to promote a self-sustaining food system with rising living costs. It is about bringing about community growth and cooperation and figuring out how we can grow our own food independently. “Walker said.

According to Walker, working on the soil is both therapeutic and educational, as anyone can participate in the program and volunteer, and volunteers learn to grow their food. ..
