Flatbush, Brooklyn (WABC)-A teenager shot in the head while working for a family company on the weekend is on a long road to recovery.

Zayid Muthana’s father said his son had surgery to remove the bullets Wednesday morning and afternoon.

on Tuesday, Police released a surveillance video of two men While Mutana was working behind the counter, she entered the M & M grocery store on Nostrand Avenue after 6 pm.

According to police, the 18-year-old boy noticed that one of the suspects was trying to steal something and tried to stop him.

At that time, the man pulled out his gun and fired. Mutana fell to the ground and was taken to the hospital in crisis.

The 18-year-old child has stopped surgery and is recovering by Wednesday evening.

However, his family, who emigrated from Yemen, are devastated.

They say the teen had a big dream of entering real estate and helped his father’s business on weekends when he wasn’t at school.

“He was always working hard to bring food to the table,” said his father Fahad Mutana. “I want him justice. He was a good boy. Everyone in the community loves him.”
Recent shootings have caused great concern to local merchants who say they had a series of shootings and puncture wounds in their local Bodegas.

A crowd gathered in front of the deli to pray for Zyed on Wednesday.

They are currently demanding better police response and more security, but their immediate focus is on Mutana’s well-being.
