WHO said on Friday that the delta variant of COVID-19 warned the world to quickly suppress the virus before it got worse again.

According to the World Health Organization, the first highly infectious subspecies detected in India are now surfaced in 132 countries and territories.

“Delta is a warning. It’s a warning that the virus is evolving, but it’s also a call for action that requires immediate action before more dangerous variants emerge,” said WHO’s Emergency Director. Michael Ryan said at a press conference.

WHO Chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said:

In five of the six WHO regions, infections have increased by an average of 80% over the past four weeks, according to Tedros.

Delta has shaken many countries, but Ryan said proven measures to put the transmission under control are still working.

“They have stopped the Delta strain, especially with the addition of vaccination,” he said.

“The virus is better and the virus is faster. The game plan will continue to work, but the game plan needs to be implemented and executed much more efficiently and effectively than ever before.”

Unreasonable price of vaccine

The United Nations Health Organization has consistently called for the equal distribution of vaccines around the world, calling the dramatic imbalance “moral anger.”

According to the number of AFPs, more than 4 billion COVID-19 vaccines are currently being administered worldwide.

In countries classified as high-income by the World Bank, 98 injections are given per 100 people.

That figure drops to 1.6 per 100 people in 29 lowest-income countries.

If 4 billion doses are evenly given to people over the age of 60, “basically 2 doses to all who are at greatest risk of serious consequences when reaching a strain like Delta. We should have been able to do that, “said WHO frontman Bruce Aylward.Donor-funded jabs Poor country..

Instead, these countries “face a variant of the Delta and end up paying very different prices.”

“There is no magical solution”

WHO wants all countries to vaccinate at least 10% of the population by the end of September. At least 40% by the end of this year and 70% by the middle of 2022.

“We have a long way to go to reach those goals,” lamented Tedros.

He said more than half of the 194 WHO member states had fully vaccinated 10 percent of their population. Less than a quarter are 40% vaccinated. And only three countries have vaccinated 70 percent.

Meanwhile, WHO states that Burundi, Eritrea and North Korea are the only member states that have not yet launched a COVID-19 vaccination campaign.

Since its outbreak in China in December 2019, the new coronavirus has killed at least 4.2 million people and has registered nearly 196.6 million cases, according to official sources compiled by AFP.

According to Tedros, the current infection rate will exceed the 200 million known infection marks within the next two weeks, but the actual numbers will be much higher.

“There is no magical solution,” Ryan said. “The only magic powder we have is vaccination. The problem is that we don’t spread it evenly around the world and we oppose ourselves.”
