WWDC 22 introduces better collaboration and focus capabilities along with passkey security

Today, at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC 22), Apple announced many new features for iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and WatchOS.

With the iOS 16 update, we’ve focused on the lock screen, allowing you to view your favorite photos, customize font styles, and view a set of widgets to see information at a glance. It also enhances the availability of widgets on the lock screen so users can see data such as weather, events, dates, and time zones at a glance.

You can also easily exclude distractions by setting a focus that users can select by allowing or silencing apps or users to receive notifications.

“IOS 16 is a major release that includes updates that change the iPhone experience,” said Craig Federighi, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Software Engineering. “Rethinking the look and behavior of your lock screen, adding more personal and useful exciting new features, introducing a family-friendly iCloud shared photo library, streamlining communication with new message and email features, and live text. Leveraged the intelligence enhanced by the update and a visual lookup. “

For security, iOS, iPadOS, and macOS also got passkeys. It is end-to-end encrypted and secure from phishing and data breaches. According to Apple, these factors make passkeys stronger than all two-factor authentication types and work on non-Apple devices as well.

MacOS offers an enhanced search engine and image search that allows you to search for images directly from Spotlight in Photos, Messages, Notes, Finder, and the Web. You can also use live text to search for images based on the text in it.

Users can also activate SharePlay via messages to more easily share notes, presentations, reminders, Safari tab groups, and more.

The new Stage Manager automatically organizes apps and windows into a single view on any Mac, allowing you to stay focused as you move between tasks. Users can create different groups of apps for a particular project and arrange, resize, and overlay them in a layout.

iPadOS has received many of the same features as iOS 16, added new display modes, and used Stage Manager to improve external display support at resolutions up to 6K.

Watch OS 9 gives users access to more watch face personalization options by tracking medicines with the new Medications app, gaining more insights into sleep and health.

Two new MacBooks with M2 chips will be available next month. Additional details are available for all software updates from WWDC22 here..
