Columbia County High School closed after JROTC students were seen carrying ceremonial rifles

Columbia County, Florida –Columbia County High School was put on lockdown Thursday morning following false reports of armed individuals on campus, the school district said.

About 30 minutes later, the school district said the report was actually from a U.S. Army Junior Reserve Training Corps (JROTC) student on a training team. was found carrying a defunct drill rifle.

The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office responded to the campus and resumed normal operations around 9:15 am.
