Fendi celebrates ‘Baguette’ bag at New York Fashion Week in NYC

New York – The cheers gathered outside the Hammerstein Ballroom in Midtown Manhattan, and you might have thought it was a movie premiere. But despite the celebrity presence, the real star was the handbag.

Not just handbags, but the ‘Baguette’ – the ubiquitous Fendi bag created 25 years ago, named after the long French loaf and the way discerning buyers carry it under their arms. Friday night’s Fendi show was the big birthday party for the bag and its longstanding claim to pop culture fame.

But Fendi usually puts its shows in Italy, so why in New York?

“Give me a bag,” demanded the thug in the alley. “It’s a baguette!” Carey admonished him as he pulled off a glossy purple version of her.

When about 600 people packed into the ballroom on Friday night, it’s safe to say everyone knew their bag from the baguette.

That night marked a tripartite collaboration. FENDI WOMEN His designer, Kim Jones, brought in his friend and former boss, quintessential New York designer Marc Jacobs, to give him his distinctively romantic streetwear vibe. , of course, applied to the ten or so ensembles starring Baguette. (“I never hold back from an iconic bag,” Jacobs reportedly said in a theatrical-style show.) And jeweler Tiffany & Co. & Co. unveiled its own baguette in a distinctive robin’s egg blue.

In the front row sat Kim Kardashian, with blonde locks and a figure-hugging sheer, sequined dress. Glossy baguettes, fluffy baguettes, sparkling and smooth baguettes.

There were fanny pack baguettes, sometimes double baguettes, two sizes stacked on top of each other. Pockets reimagined as baguettes. There was a small baguette made of satin over the tube sock. A great place to put your small gadgets. Or, if you want a satin baseball attached to his cap and close to his head, it’s perfect for keeping your gadget close to his head. A mix of fancy and casual, sequins and sweatshirts.

As the show began, the giant drapes on the wall fell to the ground to reveal a giant mirror, and suddenly the entire room, balcony, and all could see themselves. However, when it was completed, the mirror suddenly disappeared, leaving the model standing in a huge display case as if it were a store.

Linda Evangelista, in a large Tiffany Blue cape and gown, came out with the designers to take her final bow. She was applauded for what was a very public moment for the ’90s supermodel and now 57.
