Lando Norris celebrates F1 Miami Grand Prix victory

In a remarkable victory, McLaren’s Lando Norris clinched his first-ever Formula One race win at the Miami Grand Prix on Sunday (May 6), outpacing World Champion Max Verstappen. Despite Verstappen’s dominance in the early races of the season, Norris emerged unexpectedly to claim victory, injecting new excitement into the championship race and dispelling the notion of Verstappen’s invincibility.

Competing in his 110th race for McLaren, Norris secured a commanding victory over Verstappen, finishing over seven seconds ahead. Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc completed the podium finishes, underscoring the competitiveness of the race. Despite Norris’s breakthrough win, Verstappen maintains his lead in the world championship standings, having started the Miami GP 2024 on pole and winning four of the first five races of the season.

In the team standings, Red Bull retains the top spot with 239 points, followed by Ferrari and McLaren in second and third place with 187 and 124 points, respectively. Verstappen leads the driver’s standings with 136 points, closely followed by his teammate Sergio Perez with 103 points. Charles Leclerc of Ferrari occupies the third position with 98 points, while Norris’s historic victory propels him to fourth place in the driver standings.
