Pensacola, FL (WJW) – A teenager who drowned while trying to save several children on a Florida beach last week is remembered as a hero.
According to a report from fox news Bryce Brooks, 16, from Atlanta, was vacationing with her family in Pensacola on Thursday when her four children were trapped in the undercurrent and washed into the Gulf of Mexico.
Brooks and two others set out to help children who were completely strangers to him. An older family friend, Charles Johnson II, who tried to save Brooks, also drowned.
Four children survived.
Others at the scene pulled Brooks and Johnson out of the water, but both were pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
Brooks’ mother, Krystal, said: FOX 5 Atlanta“We know he became his adult to save these children and it makes me proud. increase.”
