Video shows Good Samaritan helping man trapped under truck after Broward crash

Pembroke Park, Florida – An ice cream truck capsized in Broward County on Friday, trapping the driver underneath. The Good Samaritan did not hesitate to quickly find a way to help.

The crash occurred in Pembroke Park, east of First Street, west of Interstate 95, along West Pembroke Road on South Park Road.

Darnell Tony was among the witnesses who rushed in to help the driver whose feet were under the weight of the metal.

“I felt like a man couldn’t die on my watch,” Tony said.

Good Samaritan used a tow truck jack that was nearby to relieve the pressure on his leg as gas and oil leaked onto him and onto the road.

Witnesses said he was alive when paramedics arrived. Tony said his participation in the effort has restored his faith in humanity.

“Everyone who attended showed they cared,” said Tony.

The Pembroke Park Police Department said one woman suffered minor injuries, although the crash was non-fatal.

Detectives wanted anyone with information about the cause of the crash to call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
