new york – A New York band on tour in North Carolina had their instruments stolen from a trailer parked in a hotel parking lot.
The band says the gear is worth more than $20,000.
The Long Island-based Kelly Baker Band wrapped up their Carolina tour Sunday at Bowstring Pizza and Brewery in Raleigh.
They returned and would normally have loaded their gear, but were so exhausted from the trip that they left the U-Haul attached to the red truck.
When they were about to leave for New York on Monday morning, everything was gone.
The band was staying at the Hilton on the 3400 block of Wake Forest Road.
“We just want the instruments back. That’s the most important thing,” said Kelly Baker. “There’s a lot of emotional value associated with this, and that’s what we care about most.”
The trailer contained a full drum set, 6 guitars, 3 amps, speaker stands and more.
One of them is a very special orange Rickenbacker.
“This is my second time in the area,” Baker said. “People have been very kind and helpful, but this is really disappointing. It’s sad that people feel the need to do something like this.”
Raleigh Police are investigating. The trailer is believed to have been attached to another vehicle and taken away.
So far, no suspects have been identified.
Raleigh Police are asking anyone they believe has information that may be helpful in an investigation to: Visit Climb Stoppers If you prefer the anonymous reporting option, please call (919) 996-1193.
