Autopsy scheduled for Glynn County grandmother shot dead outside work

Glynn County, Georgia – An autopsy is planned for a local granny who was shot over the weekend.

Dawn Neubauer, 53, was found with a gunshot wound to the back of the head outside the St. Simons Island restaurant where she worked early Saturday morning.

Glynn County Police 50-year-old Ricky Easterling arrested and charged him with murdering her.

Neubauer worked in the Golden Isles restaurant industry for 15 years and was the mother of four, according to her son-in-law. He said she has many friends and she knows different people.

Easterling and Neubauer knew each other, according to the Glynn County Police Department, but police did not provide further details.

Neubauer’s son-in-law, Matthew Neubauer, also said he was unaware of the relationship.

“My understanding is that it was someone she knew,” said Matthew Neubauer. “I don’t know the extent of the relationship or how long they’ve known each other.”

Matthew Neubauer has been a law enforcement officer for 15 years. He said he spent most of that time investigating serious and violent crimes.

“I’ve been investigating this sort of thing for years, and I was even surprised at how shocking the scene was,” Neubauer said. “Most celebrity-to-celebrity shootouts take place in a frenzy of passion, altercation, etc. In my professional opinion, having researched these types of incidents, most experienced law enforcement officers are accustomed to seeing It was far more violent than anything else.”

Police said evidence found at the scene led the GCPD to identify Easterling as a person of interest. The GCPD said it continued its investigation and obtained several search warrants, resulting in the discovery of significant evidence, including firearms believed to be associated with the crime.

Easterling has been charged with multiple counts, including felony murder, and is currently being held at the Glynn County Jail.
