MERRITT ISLAND, Fla. While the world watches the Space Coast for the next vertical liftoff, a quieter and arguably more critical revolution is happening on the ground level. It is one that could secure Florida’s economic future long after the rockets clear the tower.

Today marks a pivotal shift for the region’s industrial base. Aaron Sneed, a West Melbourne local, recently takes the helm as President of Merritt Island based Leak Testing Specialists (LTS).

Sneed is betting big on a simple idea. Florida shouldn’t just be the place where things launch. It should be the place where everything from essential antibiotics to nuclear reactor valves gets built, tested, and certified.

Sneed, whose high-tech engineering firm Defense Operations and Engineering Solutions (DOES) recently grabbed headlines in Business Insider for its futuristic use of “AI Agents,” is now merging that digital capability with the industrial grit of LTS.

His mission is to solve the “Silver Tsunami” crisis facing American manufacturing and bring critical supply chains back to Florida soil.

The “Blue Collar 2.0” Workforce

In a recent Op-Ed for Florida Today, Sneed sounded the alarm on a national security risk that few talk about. This risk is our reliance on overseas adversaries for essential goods. “We cannot claim to be secure if we rely on foreign supply chains for our penicillin and our semiconductors,” Sneed wrote.

Bringing those jobs back requires a workforce that does not exist yet. The master technicians of the Apollo era are retiring. The new generation needs to move faster.

Sneed’s solution is what he calls “Blue Collar 2.0.” By integrating the AI and digital engineering tactics he perfected at DOES, he aims to supercharge the local workforce at LTS.

“We aren’t using technology to replace the Florida technician,” Sneed told Space Coast Daily. “We are using it to strip away the bureaucracy. We want a technician in Merritt Island to be able to do the work of three people. Not by working harder, but by having AI handle the paperwork and compliance data. That is how we compete with cheap labor overseas. That is how we keep high-paying jobs in Brevard County.”

From Melbourne to the World

The strategic move to have Sneed lead LTS signals a shift for the region. LTS has deep roots in the nuclear and space sectors with facilities in Orlando and the Space Coast. Sneed plans to turn these facilities into training hubs for this new digital-industrial workforce.

According to coverage in TechBullion, Sneed’s vision extends into regulated manufacturing. This specifically includes the ultra-high purity environments needed for pharmaceutical and semiconductor production.

“The Space Coast has the discipline,” Sneed said. “If we can keep a rocket fuel system leak-free, we can keep a sterile vial of medicine contaminant-free. We are retraining our aerospace talent to attack the pharmaceutical supply chain crisis.”

A Fortress for Florida’s Future

As companies like Blue Origin and SpaceX continue to expand, the support layer beneath them must harden. Sneed’s dual role positions him as a unique architect of this new ecosystem. He runs the high-tech systems engineering at DOES while leading the boots-on-the-ground testing at LTS.

For the Florida economy, the implications are massive. It suggests a future where the Space Coast is not just a launchpad. It becomes a manufacturing fortress.

“We are building for scale,” Sneed says. “We are proving that Florida is the best place in the world to build the hard stuff.”
