Deadly fire in Brooklyn: 76-year-old man dies in Crown Heights apartment fire
Crown Heights, Brooklyn (WABC) — A 76-year-old man was found dead in a fire in his Brooklyn apartment Monday afternoon.
A fire broke out around 1:30 p.m. inside an apartment on the third floor of a six-story building on Union Street in Crown Heights.
Sixty firefighters from 12 FDNY units responded and were able to quickly put the fire under control.
Firefighters said the flames were mostly contained in that one unit.
Victims have not yet been identified.
The fire department is investigating the cause of the fire.
As of February 23, there have been 36 fatalities in New York state, according to the U.S. Fire Department.
