Florida Governor Ron DeSantis Named 2022 Time Person of the Year
Just when it seemed like the hype around Governor Ron DeSantis I couldn’t speak any louder. time magazine On Monday, it announced that the Florida leader was on the list of nominees for Person of the Year.
DeSantis was one of ten finalists for Person of the Year last year, awarded to entrepreneur Elon Musk, the richest person in the world. TIME plans to announce the winner on Wednesday.

DeSantis stepped into the national spotlight during the COVID-19 pandemic and hasn’t left the stage since, positioning himself as a potential presidential candidate and one of the country’s most popular Republicans is established.
In the midterm elections, talk of DeSantis as the future of the Republican Party increased after he won by a wide margin of 19 percentage points, even though the red wave failed to materialize nationally.
In addition to DeSantis, Chinese President Xi Jinping, former US Congressman Liz Cheney, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, philanthropist Mackenzie Scott, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, mask again, gun safety advocate, Iran protesters, and the U.S. Supreme Court.
Former President Donald Trump was not on the list.
DeSantis is widely considered to be Republican presidential candidate Trump’s most formidable potential competitor after pushing a policy that electrified Republican supporters.
