GPS, K-9 Help Track Suspect Who Robbed Vehicle From Deadly Arlington Double Shooting Site: JSO
jacksonville, florida – Two youths were found dead in a shooting in Arlington Wednesday morning, according to Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office investigators.
A double shooting was reported at approximately 6:30 am at The Square, 59 Caroline Apartments, an apartment complex on Fort Caroline Road in the University Park area.
Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Sergeant. Chris Stevens said other people were inside the apartment unit when the men were shot, and one of them called 911.
According to Stevens, a witness said the car the suspect was driving belonged to someone in the apartment and officers were able to track it down using the car’s GPS.
Police found him on Broward Road and he turned onto Lem Turner Road. When police tried to pull over, the driver pulled up at an apartment complex, jumped out of the car, and fled into the woods, Stevens said.
He was tracked down by K-9 and taken into custody after being bitten.He was taken to a hospital to be treated for his injuries, Stevens said.
Stevens said the vehicle was towed from the Lem Turner scene and the weapon was found in it.
The motive for the shooting is unknown, but an investigation is in the early stages, Stevens said.
