Jacksonville sailor, 23, charged with DUI manslaughter in Buckman Bridge crash
jacksonville, florida – A Jacksonville sailor assigned to NAS Jacksonville has been charged with a high-speed DUI that killed a 41-year-old motorcyclist on Buckman Bridge last year.
State troopers arrested and detained Sage Michael Young, 23, at the base on Wednesday, who was on duty in a Navy uniform.
He has been charged in connection with DUI manslaughter and other charges. December 18 Collision on Interstate 295 at Buckman Bridge.
Officers told News4JAX that he was driving 179 mph and had a blood alcohol level of 0.204, more than double the legal limit.
“We were able to identify him, search for him within the base, and locate him. He was under his command and we worked under his command,” Sgt. Dylan Bryan.
The FHP report identified the victim as Martin Lynch of Orange Park. He was on a road-legal electric scooter. He was murdered just days before his 42nd birthday.

“We want to turn all the stones upside down on this particular case. We don’t want to leave nothing unseen,” Bryan said. “So our investigators have done a very good job of putting everything together and making a good case.”
At the time of this article’s publication, Young had no registered attorney and did not have a cell phone on his arrest report. His local address is listed in Kentucky.
Navy Air Force Atlantic Commander Dawn M. Stancus issued a statement to News4JAX confirming his situation and charges.

Young is being held at Duval County Jail on $180,000 bail.
