Naples Airport seeks public input on noise study
Naples
Noise from above has resulted in around 800 noise complaints at Naples Airport between October 2021 and September 2022. Now the airport wants to conduct noise surveys and learn how to reduce complaints from neighbors.
The airport’s executive director said complaints have really increased since the pandemic. According to him, Naples is becoming more and more popular, and more and more people are noticing the noise. Ultimately, the Federal Aviation Administration will decide what to do about it.
Naples Airport has a list of ideas to submit to the FAA and your feedback can make a big difference.
The Naples Airport Authority is no exception. Zach Birch, his manager at Naples Airport Authority Communications, said:
Birch said he could help cancel out the noise. “Process of noise research. Part 150 process.”
Part 150 is a study that airports can conduct to investigate ways to reduce noise problems in their communities. Birch said Naples airport participated and drafted the recommendations.
“You can look at flight procedure changes, land-use changes, programs you want to implement,” says Burch.
One of the noise maintenance recommendations includes a steeper approach so the aircraft can maintain altitude longer, eliminating noise as the aircraft is approaching the ground.
Airports need your feedback now.
“Once the public comment period is over, a committee of airport authorities will have a final vote on what should be included and will submit it to the FAA for review and approval,” Burch said.
