Weehawken, New Jersey (WABC) — If you’re stuck in traffic on your Monday morning commute, you may have witnessed a very special delivery.
Maria Marin gave birth to a healthy baby boy just outside the Lincoln Tunnel toll booth.
At about 8:50 am on Monday, Port Authority police received a call of a woman in labor.
Officer Timonty Josefczyk was the first to arrive on the scene.
The driver told Josewczyk that his partner, Maria Marin, was in labor and bleeding.
Mr. Josefczyk immediately noticed that the baby was about to wear the crown and told Mr. Malin to push it.
A healthy baby boy was born within 3 minutes.
Killian Aaron Gualpa Castano weighs 6 pounds 9 ounces.
It was not only the first time for Jozewczyk to help give birth, but also the first time to hold a newborn.
“I was very relieved when the baby cried and I was very happy that everyone was healthy,” said Officer Josefczyk.
He hopes to become a father someday.
Shortly thereafter, police officer Even Butts arrived and helped deliver the afterbirth and tighten the umbilical cord.
Monday was the fifth time Butts helped deliver the baby.
The mother and child were taken to a local hospital.
“They are our heroes,” said the baby’s father, Nestor Gualpa. “It was like a scene from a movie. I will never forget this experience.”
