Reykshire Barton files to run for Jacksonville sheriff in March election
Lake Sherberton, a former assistant chief of the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Department running for sheriff in 2022, submitted her name on the March 21 ballot.
Barton, a Democrat, lost last November’s special election to Republican TK Waters, who is now the sheriff of Jacksonville. Waters got 55% of his vote and Burton got 45% of him.

News4JAX obtained the paperwork she filed Tuesday night and confirmed by phone that she is running again.
Waters had already announced that he would run for re-election. Prior to being elected, he was Director of Research at the JSO.
The November election came after Burton and Waters received the most votes in a five-way election to replace former Sheriff Mike Williams last August. % and advanced to the November ballot.
Williams Resigned in June amid controversy over transfer From Duval to Nassau County.
The winner of the spring election completes a four-year term.
