jacksonville, florida – WJXT-4 News4JAX is pleased to announce the promotion of Richard Nunn to Chief Meteorologist.Richard takes over John Ghosn to retire in May.
Richard started working for WJXT-TV in 2004 after leaving KPTV in Portland, Oregon. He holds a degree in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Florida and a Master’s degree in Geology and Earth Sciences from Mississippi State University.
What is Richard? His bio describes him as an “extraordinary predictor, cartoon foil, culinary expert, home improvement expert, and beer enthusiast.”
When asked about becoming chief of WJXT, Richard said: I trained with John in the morning and with Chief Meteorologist George Winterling in the evening. After a shuffle and some changes, John started working nights with George and I moved on to The Morning Show. John has guided us through numerous storms and tropical activities throughout his time as Chief. I am proud to be on the team for the night and truly honored to share the title that the best meteorologist in Jacksonville has held before me.
Meteorologist Katie Garner will be the weather forecaster for The Morning Show.meteorologist Katie Garner is the newest member of the News4JAX team. Katie started at WJXT on April 12th!
She brought even more energy and enthusiasm to the team.
Katie recently worked as a meteorologist for FOX Weather in New York and Orlando. Prior to that, the Triad, North Carolina, honed his skills at FOX8 WGHP, stations in Wilmington and Charlotte, North Carolina, and Columbus, Ohio. Katie attended college in Raleigh and earned a weather forecasting certificate from Pennsylvania State University.
When asked about being part of the Morning Show team, Katie said: She has been looking forward to calling Jacksonville home for a long time. ” Katy continued, ”Earning the trust and ratings from the amazing people in this city is of the utmost importance.
