‘Spot shortage’ of children’s drugs in New York City and Long Island is causing concern, says New York State Senator Chuck Schumer
New York City (WABC) — New York State Senator Chuck Schumer has called on the FDA to investigate a “spot shortage” of basic over-the-counter children’s drugs in New York City and Long Island.
Schumer says parents, including his daughter, have come to his office to complain that they can’t find painkillers, fever reducers, or cough syrup.

A dramatic increase in the number of cases appears to be hitting the pharmaceutical supply chain.
“Tylenol, Robitacin, Motrin and Ibuprofen are the hardest drugs to find this holiday season,” the senator said. is easy.”
Schumer was joined by her mother and her 10-month-old daughter at a press conference on Sunday morning.
According to Schumer’s office, the mother’s parents live on Long Island and recently had trouble finding medication when she was babysitting and her baby was sick.
Schumer wants the FDA to investigate the shortages and determine what formal steps can be taken to mitigate them.
