Sprinkler system failure causes ‘waterfall’ from Miami hotel

Water erupted from the fifth floor of a downtown Miami hotel on Friday.

Eyewitness video showed a deluge outside the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel along Biscayne Boulevard.

“It was like a waterfall,” said Caroline McGovern.

Some people worried it was sewage because it looked brown. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to the building to investigate a faulty sprinkler system.

“It was pretty crazy. Actually it looked like a fountain,” said Floyd Ellis.

Hotel officials said the flooding did not affect the guest rooms and quickly subsided.
