John Holgan named Leon High School’s men’s soccer coach

Leon High School has announced John Holgan as the new head coach of men’s soccer.

Leon High School Principal Michael Bryan said, “We are delighted to welcome Coach Holgan to the Lions Den and feel fortunate to be able to bring his expertise to our program. I look forward to what he has to offer students in both the fields.”

According to LHS, Holgan’s mission is to provide soccer players with the best possible atmosphere through training, camaraderie, respect, honesty and integrity, prepare individuals to become young adults, and introduce the fraternity of lifelong friends. It’s about reaching your highest potential as an individual in preparation. Find out over the years as a member of the Leon High School boys’ soccer program.

A graduate of Leon High School in 1984, Holgan joined the high school’s coaching staff in 2015, assisting the girls’ and boys’ soccer programs throughout the 2022-2023 season.

A graduate of Leon High School, he began his coaching career in 2002 with the Lake Jackson Sports Council. Holgan was then recruited by Tallahassee United Football He club (now he is known as the FL Elite) in 2007 and remained on his coaching staff until 2020.

Leon Athletic director Riley Bell said Holgan would be a great addition to the staff. “We believe he is the right person for our children, parents, fans, and the Leon community,” Bell said. We look forward to seeing these athletes grow into contributing members of our community.”
