Write For Us

We accept pitches from Florida-based journalists, subject experts and writers who know the state well.

What we’re looking for

  • Original reporting on Florida communities, institutions, business and policy.
  • First-hand expertise: an educator on school funding, an insurance broker on premium increases, a marine biologist on red tide.
  • Service journalism that genuinely helps Florida residents make a decision.

What we don’t accept

  • Reprints or content published elsewhere.
  • Undisclosed paid placements, link insertions or promotional pieces dressed as reporting. Commercial content goes through floridanewstimes@gmail.com and is labelled as sponsored.
  • AI-generated drafts submitted as original work.

How to pitch. Email floridanewstimes@gmail.com with the subject line PITCH, a two-paragraph summary, your proposed sources, and two samples of previous work. We respond to pitches we want within a week.

Terms. Accepted contributors get a named byline and an author page with a bio and links. [State your rate or that contributions are unpaid.] We edit for accuracy, length and style, and we’ll share the edit before publication.
